“I’m Calling to Reschedule…”
For reasons that currently escape me, I had to cancel a nice weekend dinner at a dessert factory restaurant. I was scheduled for the 4th of this month and emailed my scheduler a little more than two weeks in advance. Hey, I am not one to turn down those types of places lightly.
A couple of strange things happened. Mystery Guest emailed me a few days in advance about my ‘upcoming shop.’ I promptly forwarded them my origianl email inofrmaing them that I would not be able to complete the shop and they needed to replace me (over two weeks ago). Then I heard nothing, I of course, hoped I was not on their poop list, but I had retained the original email & forwarding it to them must have cleared the air - and if it didn’t - there was nothing else I could do anyhow. Today (Sunday?) at noon MG calls “Calling to rescedule your shop.” Ever the idiot, I was not sure if I had forgotten to do somehting over the weekend, so I *played* dumb for a couple of minutes until it became obvs. this was about the dessert restaurant. This shop was due the 4th, I cancelled twice before and at the start of the month & they were ‘just getting back to me?’ One of two things were going on here. She was looking to guilt me into helping her out with thise shop, hoping I would feel some guilt about having an actual life or forget I cancelled with them twice & hope I felt I owed them one. The second, equally likely scenario, MG are idiots that waited until the last minute. Her idea of me shopping woudl be either tomorrow or the next day for lunch, quite a ways into town . . . . um, that won’t work, I need to schedule lunches pretty far in advance. She said she could “proboably put me back in the rotation then.” Huh? Had a doen something squirelly? Doubtful, more likely she was looking to use my (mystery shopper’s) guilt to her advantage.
